Our client is a leading provider of home infusion and specialty pharmacy services servicing Northern Indiana. We are seeking an experienced Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician / Intake Coordinator to join our growing home infusion pharmacy team.
Position Summary
This onsite role combines technical sterile compounding responsibilities with patient intake coordination. You'll support infusion pharmacists in preparing sterile products, ensuring compliance with USP standards, while managing referrals, authorizations, and communications to facilitate seamless patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Sterile Compounding Technician Duties Assist pharmacists in compounding sterile preparations in strict compliance with applicable standards and company policies (e.g., USP , ). Demonstrate proper garbing, aseptic technique, and maintain ISO-classified cleanroom environments. Accurately prepare medications, labels, batch records, and patient-specific supplies. Maintain and sanitize compounding areas, document cleaning, and support quality control measures. Participate in in-service training and continuous quality improvement activities. Intake Coordinator Duties Process referrals and intake requests with focus on completeness, accuracy, and efficiency to reduce denials and delays. Obtain benefits information, verify coverage, and initiate prior authorizations with follow-up and escalation as needed. Document intake activity, patient communications, and case progress in systems to support reimbursement and case continuity. Clearly communicate therapy costs and financial obligations to patients to ensure informed consent. Coordinate with franchise partners and internal departments, contributing to training and process improvements.
Qualifications
Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Active Pharmacy Technician license or registration per Indiana regulations. Minimum 2 years of experience in sterile compounding (including home infusion setting preferred), and/or intake/billing in healthcare or pharmacy environments. High Technology Proficiency with pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office tools. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and strong organizational capabilities. Preferred: National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT). Prior experience with infusion therapy or compounding-specific accreditation. Coding or medical billing training. Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods in cleanroom settings, lift up to ~40 lbs, perform repetitive compounding tasks.,
