Overview
St. Luke's Health System in Boise is seeking a Pharmacy Benefit Manager Services Technician to support our PBM Pharmacy Department.

The Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) Services Technician position resides in the Pharmacy Department, reporting to the Pharmacy Director for PBM Pharmacy. This position is responsible for assisting members in identifying and navigating complex PBM and 3rd party issues such as Prior Authorization, Step Therapy, reviewing denied claims, processing overrides, etc. The Pharmacy Benefit Manager Services Technician works closely with an interdisciplinary team of Pharmacy staff, Patient Financial Advocates, the Pharmacy Authorization Team, Revenue Cycle, third party vendors, clinic staff, and providers.
Daily tasks include the coordination of patient insurance coverages, reviewing and processing prior authorization requests, and the entering of system overrides as appropriate. In addition, the PBM Services Technician will address complex questions from both third-party payers and SLHS personnel regarding medication issues and reimbursement. Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a professional presentation are imperative, as is an ability to be innovative and creative.
To be effective, the PBM Services Technician must be a quick learner who is able to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships.
Responsibilities
- Understand PBM and third-party claims billing, denials, and appeal processes
- Collect, aggregate, and analyze data from various systems
- Understand Specialty Pharmacy and Mail Order Pharmacy services
- Collaborate with both internal partners and external vendors, establishing positive customer relationships
- Maintain required manual tracking systems with a high level of accuracy and detail
- Build spreadsheets for analytical duties
- Assist with data collection, research and reconciliation of charges and purchases for both internal and external audits
- Analyze unique challenges, apply program rules, and resolve customer concerns
- Quickly master various PBM software systems
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Idaho Pharmacy Technician License required
- Two (2) years' experience preferred
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred
- Familiarity with PBM claims processing preferred
