Assists pharmacists in various pharmaceutical activities to include the preparation and distribution of medications, the maintenance of drug inventory, patient records and financial records. Assist pharmacist in shopping for the best price on needed drugs and supplies for the clinics. Works only under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety. Participation in Compliance and other important training is a condition of employment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Works only under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist to operate the Distribution Pharmacy as described in the Pharmacy Policies and Procedures
- Assists pharmacists in various pharmaceutical activities to include the preparation and distribution of medications, the maintenance of drug inventory, maintains IFS system and financial records
- Maintains adequate stock of medication and supplies according to established policies and procedures
- Interacts with internal and external customers in a professional, courteous and customer friendly manner
- Participates as appropriate in cost management and development of management reports relative to costs, charges and pricing
- Works with upper management in the formulation of pricing strategies for negotiated contracts and capitation
- Maintains pharmacy data and inventory systems; prepares informational and related records and reports to ensure accurate data and system compliance with policies and regulations; researches and purchases the best product in terms of company, price and brand name versus bioequivalent generic
- Monitors inventory levels and expiration dates for pharmaceuticals; determines re-order levels; directs proper storage of pharmaceuticals, and disposal or return of outdated stock to manufacturers for credit or exchange
- Verifies accuracy of medication shipments and resolves vendor-related problems
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program or equivalent training; NM Board of Pharmacy registration upon date hired
- Pharmacy Tech Certification
- Ability to communicate effectively; basic computer skills
